A
Voyage Toward a World of Adventure . . .
Adventures
in the Sea and Sky will set sail on a swashbuckling scientific journey
through history. We’ll track down seafarers and skydivers, astronauts
and astronomers, pirates and pilots in a fast-forward trip through days
of yesteryear. Along the way, tales of daring figures and devilish fiends
will delight all ages.
The adventure
begins on the sea. In your history studies, you’ll trace the chronicles
of man’s journeys by sea and the vessels he sailed. The journey
will take you aboard clinker- built Viking warships and graceful, speedy
clipper ships. At the same time, you’ll also dive into science,
studying ocean habitats, and get to know the strange creatures that call
it home. Stories of piracy and plunder, bravery and perseverance will
fire the imagination.
Next,
you’ll take off into the skies, then space. Great adventures await
as you trace the story of those who pioneered flight, made it a reality
and developed the stunning aircraft and spaceships we see (and don’t
see) today! In your science studies you’ll learn all about the
weather of our atmosphere, and travel throughout our universe.
Hands-on
activities and learning opportunities are integral to the program. Your
instructor’s guide has weekly ideas, but in addition, many of
your books will help you learn the ways of sailors, pilots, astronauts,
explorers and scientists of all kinds.

Features you'll love in the Sea and Sky Program Guide:
- Parent

with your student
- 36-week

Decide on Which Option is Right for Your Family!
The Sea and Sky Program: A One-Year Look
at World History via Sea, Sky, & Space Voyages
Your family will get an opportunity to look at world history in a unique
way -- through the development of key transportation methods that have
influenced the outcomes of battles between kings and relationships between
peoples. Along the way they’ll also be immersed in a study of
the world’s oceans, its atmosphere and weather, and the universe
in which it resides. Most students will find the concrete nature of
the subjects to be engrossing, and the new connections in history that
they’ll discover will fascinate and bring new meaning to how civilizations
rose and fell over centuries. This program is designed to be another
review method for those who seek to bring the classical emphasis of
review to their schooling experience.

students to sign on for the voyage. These pages include an additional
schedule for two key titles that will add more difficult content, along
with writing and literature suggestions to use with our LA programs.
Also included are marvelous project ideas created with the older student
in mind, such as drawing design plans for a rudder, creating a virtual
scrapbook of American seamanship, researching the history of messages
found in bottles or writing a simple war-time decoder program. Geared

Frequently
Asked Questions Regarding this Program
Do
I still need to purchase an additional science program?
The Sea and Sky program includes more than enough science for a science
credit; in fact, this program is more expensive than other comparable
programs in our product line because it includes enough history and
science for credit in both. The same holds true for students using our
older learner’s guide, although parents should make sure enough
experiments or research projects are being completed to satisfy state
requirements.
I’ve already got a few of the items
in the package. Can I still get the package price and leave them out?
We love to offer our package prices to our parents to help them purchase
a great program with a great discount. We do, however, have to sell
all the items in the package in order to honor the discount. Usually
the discount outweighs the value of the resources you might already
have. If not, you can choose items individually to build your program,
but remember -- the purchase of a themed program package ensures you
also get free shipping, another discount you’ll want to take into
account as you look at your total purchase.
How do the Language Arts coordinate with
this program?
We have several language arts programs that coordinate with our Sea
and Sky program. “LA 3,” “LA 4,” “LA 5,”
and “LA 6” each have reading lists right at their respective
grade levels to enable students to experience comfortable reading growth.
They also include creative writing suggestions for your student to complete
that coordinate with their main study. You can link to any of these
programs in the section above these questions.
