Your family will love this simple and rich science program. In our Human Body & Forensics program you will learn all about the human body and how we can identify people through the use of forensic science. Forensic investigation is brought out in an amazing resource read throughout the year. Meanwhile, the our amazing full-color student journal brings to life all of your learning and includes amazing, yet simple, lab experiments. A cool addition to the program is the study of medicine and it’s history and development. This is a program you will not want to miss!

Human Body & Forensics 3-7

What’s in the Human Body 3-7 Guide?

“Human Body and Forensics” is an intriguing science program designed to show your middle grade students just how amazing their bodies are, and its unique way of identifying them as an individual.

The resources this guide coordinates allow students to spend a year discovering the various systems inside your body! Go “inside” these systems to discover how you breathe, eat, think, move and feel.   You’ll also learn about great milestones in medicine — the germ theory, the invention of the microscope, sanitation, x-rays, and more!  Then, take a trip inside the basics of forensics — fingerprinting, simple evidence provided by blood, handwriting clues, fiber and hair evidence and other basic forensic tools.  Fantastic resources allow students to learn by observation and simple experiments.

As they go, students will enjoy a lot of science journaling, just as Charlotte Mason advocated.  Journaling assignments also help to reinforce what the student is learning.  Students will learn to write notes on assignments.

This program includes just a flavor of forensics in the program, and could still be completed without the forensics component.  In this way, it differs from our “Human Body and Forensics for 7th to 12th Grade,” which contains significant forensics material.  It is worth noting that much of the forensics study completed this year focuses on the collection of evidence found at a crime scene, which may or may not be the scene of violence.  Forensic science is used when collecting evidence at robberies or arson crime scenes, for instance.  However, it is assumed that some of the practice of forensic science does involve a dead body, whether that person died violently or from natural causes.  You can choose to eliminate the forensics portion of this program, and still have a full study of anatomy and the history of medicine.

What will you study in the Human Body 3-7 Journal?

Our new Your One-of-a-Kind Human Body is in brilliant full-color and is 142 pages long!  They’ll discover the inner workings of their own body and try some activities and experiments to learn even more about their one-of-a-kind human body.  See inside the cell and how it works and even build a cell replica. Learn the names of the bones in your body and then build a model of a spine.  As you learn about your muscles, bones and skin you will complete lab reports and observe your experiments. Learn about your senses,  your brain and even your immune system. This resource is full of enriching activities, engaging journaling passages, and fun hands-on lab experiments!

The worktext also includes “Give It Some Thought” segments that highlight how the design of the human body demonstrates God’s work or creative design, and “The Forensic Connection” segments that link ideas from the reading to how forensic scientists utilize what they know about the body to link a single unique person — either a victim or perpetrator — to a crime scene.
