Announcing . . . WinterPromise Retreat 2010

The news is so exciting, we can hardly wait to share it! We are excited to announce all the details on next year’s WinterPromise Retreat to be held in Nashville, Tennessee the weekend of April 29 to May 2, 2010.

This year's retreat will be at one of the most amazing hotels in the nation -- the Gaylord Opryland hotel. This hotel features soaring atrium ceilings, indoor tropical spaces, even indoor waterfalls, fountains and an indoor river! It's breathtaking! Click here to see a picture of just one of these atrium areas! The hotel has graciously worked with us to offer a simply unbelievable price for our families! You are SO not going to want to miss this!

There will be so much to enjoy at this wonderful event. Here at WinterPromise, it is our heartbeat to offer this retreat as a wonderful way to connect with other homeschool moms who love their families and share a similar mission with you on their homeschooling journey. This is our chance to minister to and encourage YOU!

The retreat offers a variety of excursions and activities, as well as workshops and chances to browse curriculum and ask questions. It is also a time to refresh and evaluate your priorities, walk with God, and the upcoming blessings and challenges of the new school year. All WinterPromise retreats have more of a feel of a “family get together” or church retreat, perhaps, than a homeschool convention. We would love to meet you there and have a chance to talk with you. Please take a look at the information we’ve provided and see if coming to this year’s event can be something that blesses your heart!

Answers to questions you haven't asked yet!

Why is the WP Retreat at Nashville again this year?
Well, there are very few cities as central to as many states and people as Nashville is, while still being quite affordable. You may be surprised to discover that 60% of the entire population of the United States lives within a 8.5 hour drive from Nashville. That also means a significant number of people would be closer than that! And, Nashville’s airport is convenient and easy to access from the hotel. In trying to host our retreat at a place most easily reached by the greatest number of people, we kept coming back to Nashville as offering centrality, affordable airline fares, and great services. We hope you find that true as you make your travel plans!

Are you considering a second retreat in the western United States?
Yes, we are still considering that, but not for this year. The survey taken online at our forum reflects that we need to have a few more families interested to commit. We believe that as more people experience our "Retreat" and get to know WinterPromise, that these numbers will increase. We believe it is likely that we could do a western retreat or getaway in 2011. Until then, we really hope our families out west will consider joining us this year. The Gaylord Opryland is really amazing, and promises all of us a fantastic getaway!

Can I bring my children along?
All of us who are a part of WinterPromise know that we are connected by a common bond of close family ties and a commitment to a homeschool lifestyle. As families, we make a lot of sacrifices along the way to make that happen for our families. We here at WP share this commitment to children, of course, and share in your love for them. In creating the WinterPromise Retreat, though, the event is planned as a time for parents to connect freely with other parents. As much as we'd like to include children, there are a lot of logistics in planning such an event at a hotel that make it difficult to accommodate their needs, offer what we can to parents and still make the event a getaway for our parents. For this reason, we have chosen to make WP Retreats a parents-only event. We do include, of course, moms who have nursing babies, but otherwise, we request that you do not bring your children along to this event. We hope that advance notice on the retreat will make it easy for parents to make arrangements to enjoy this wonderful getaway designed to refresh them for the school year to come!
