Animals for 1st to 4th Grade -#AW - $435 Value for $355
Also Available:
Combined Program - #AW5 - $565 Value for $465

From the first moment your beginning student opens these books, they will
be captivated by the stories and engrossed in the superb illustrations.
Activities and nature investigations are an important part of the studies
that capture the interest of students, and the incredible books in this
program are brimming with information that will satisfy the curiosity of
all ages!
Meet animals who live in a variety of landscapes, from woodlands to the
arctic, and even in the desert sand. Meet amazing animals who are
perfectly suited for survival in their habitat, and details about each
ecological system that surrounds them.
Older students will enjoy the detailed illustrations in the "One Small
Square" series, and will very much enjoy the opportunities to get out and
ramble with the "Take a Walk" books. Plus, the nature journaling that your
student will do is such an enrichment to this program. Hands-on
activities, nature investigations, creative fun and other learning
opportunities are laced throughout the program. Your student will take an
up-close look at the difference between the tails of different shark
species, or discover what a giraffe's tongue is like. They might discover
animal "clean up" specialties, or conduct an experiment on night vision.
There's just so much they'll learn!
Things to Love about Animals and Their Worlds:
Older Learners are Captivated by Key Resources
Animals and Their Worlds has magnificent resources that truly
captivate students. Pictures in the Animal Encyclopedia are breath-taking,
allowing you to go up-close and inside the lives of mammals, birds,
insects and more. Students will get answers to questions like, "Why don't
snakes shut their eyes?" or "What's inside a camel's hump?" Meanwhile the
“One Small Square” series engrosses students (and parents!) as they
discover everything that is going on in a small square of the environment
-- on the ground, among the plant life -- even underground and in the tops
of trees!
Such Great Nature Notebooking and Journaling Opportunities
Students create a full-color “Make-Your-Own” Animal Notebook that has
weekly opportunities to write or draw about a highlighted animal.
Full-color pages are fun and motivate students to do their best work. At
the same time, older students will find plenty of nature notebooking in
the resource, "Habitats, Hollows and Homes Journal," in which they will
fill out illustrated pages with observations about the environment,
weather, habitats, animal attributes and more! They will investigate how
deep the Emperor Penguin dives in the water, investigate wolf
communication, and learn about the four habitats you can find in a
tropical rainforest. Students will "make" rain, build their own "coral
colony," and discover who makes use of acorns. There's just so much to do!
You Can Add the Nature Investigation Kit!
This kit gives young learners the hard-to-find supplies they need to
track down all sorts of findings in the great outdoors. Includes tools
like a top quality magnifying glass, a jumbo real owl pellet kit,
binoculars, a large clear four-inch lidded jar for collecting specimens,
an indoor/outdoor thermometer and much more.
There’s a Set to Fit Your Family
This 1st to 4th Grade Program has targeted learning activities for
older students. There is plenty of practice writing down their thoughts
and experiences, and many ways to tailor which activities they choose to
do. There's such a blend of activities -- creative projects, investigative
topics, experiments, nature observations, math fun, scavenger hunts,
building projects and more -- that each student can choose what they
really enjoy. If you have a younger student as well, we have a combined
set that allows you to school both your students with this set. Details
are below.

Studying the Habitats
Stop in at habitats around the world and discover the plants, animals and
insects that call them home. Two sets of books are highlights in this
program: the "One Small Square" series and the "Take a Walk" books.
The "One Small Square" Series approaches habitat and animal study within
"one small sqaure" of each habitat. Beautiful drawings make it easy for
young children to become a part of each landscape with its dangers,
wonders and curious creatures. In intricate detail, the author and
illustrator highlight natural processes going on in the environment,
whether it be how leaf stems release from trees or how a worm helps to
recycle soil. In each volume, simple activities reinforce student
comprehension.
Meanwhile, the "Take a Walk" books show students how to experience local
habitats firsthand and offer notebooking and other fun activities that
help students learn! Wonderful pictures of the creatures that live in each
habitat are featured throughout.
